Universal Waste Paint
Pickup of leftover, old and unwanted paint and painting materials.
Why a can of paint is not ordinary trash
Paint looks harmless sitting on a shelf, but it contains solvents and metals that can contaminate groundwater. Tipped onto the ground, poured down a drain or left to leak in a landfill, a few forgotten gallons can end up somewhere they should never be.
That is why leftover paint is worth collecting properly. Houston sits on a lot of water, and the cheapest way to protect it is to keep paint out of the places where it can seep. Handing it to U-WRS gives it a path that ends in a permitted facility instead of a storm drain.
We are TCEQ-permitted as a Large Quantity Handler of Universal Waste, so paint is handled by a team that works with regulated material every day at 14730 Hempstead Road.

Leftover paint cans and a five gallon pail staged for pickup
What we pick up, from one can to a pallet of leftovers
U-WRS picks up leftover, old and unwanted paint and painting materials. That covers the cans left over after a job finishes, the stock that sat in a back room until it was no longer worth using, and the odds and ends that go with painting work.
A property manager clearing out after a turnover, a contractor closing out a project and a homeowner finally emptying the garage all end up with the same problem: paint they cannot use and cannot throw away. Our own vehicles come to you, so nobody has to drive cans across town.
If you are unsure whether something counts as a painting material, describe it when you call 713-360-7310. We would rather answer a quick question than have you guess.
Large or small, the process starts the same way: tell us roughly how much paint there is, where it is stored and when someone will be on site to let the driver in. That is enough for us to schedule the stop.
Getting paint ready for the truck
Good preparation makes the pickup quick and keeps things tidy. Put lids on and press them down firmly. Where you still have the original containers, keep the paint in them, because the label tells whoever handles the can exactly what is inside.
Stand cans upright, group them together in one spot near where the truck can reach, and keep them dry. A cluster of cans in one corner of a storage room is easier to collect than paint scattered over three buildings.
Paint does not have to travel alone. If you also have spent lamps, batteries or ballasts, we can collect everything in one visit, and in most cases our trucks arrive within 48 hours of your call. Tell us what you have and we will plan the stop around it. One call, one visit and one set of paperwork keeps the whole clean-out simple.
U-WRS picks up leftover, old and unwanted paint and painting materials from Houston sites with its own vehicles. Call 713-360-7310.
